L’Arte delle Altezze Rarefatte

Serata Lirica in omaggio a Nikolaj Rerich (1874–1947)

Organizzata dal Centro dei Festival Cinematografici e Programmi Internazionali con il sostegno del Forum del dialogo Italo-russo, nella cornice del progetto Missione culturale in Italia e con la collaborazione di Cantiere Multipolare, la serata ha reso omaggio al 150° anniversario della nascita di Nikolaj Konstantinovič Rerich, figura cardine dell’arte russa del Novecento e autore di una pittura densa di riferimenti simbolici e trascendenti.

L’evento ha riunito interpreti russi di prestigio – Maria Pakhar’, Denis Sedov e Sergej Semenov – e, per la sezione Musĭca – Voci e Rumori di Cantiere Multipolare, i giovani artisti italiani del collettivo Caverna delle Rose, rappresentato per l’occasione da AimA Lichtblau (voce, overtone harp) e Laura Manescalchi (flauto traverso).

In apertura, Caverna delle Rose ha proposto un’esplorazione sonora ispirata all’estetica di Rerich, riletta in chiave sinestetica e mistica attraverso riferimenti a Julius Evola ed Elémire Zolla. L’intervento ha offerto una trasposizione acustica del concetto di verticalità, interpretando la pittura come via iniziatica e il suono come strumento di elevazione spirituale.

Ad arricchire la serata è stata la presentazione dei foulard dell’artista, scenografo e designer Anna Nezhnaya, opere grafiche stampate su seta nate da un lungo percorso di ricerca teatrale e simbolica. Queste creazioni — dedicate al novantesimo anniversario del Patto Rerich — rievocano la tradizione dei Balletti Russi e rendono omaggio a figure cardine della cultura del Novecento, come Nižinskij, Borodin, Stravinskij e d’Annunzio, intrecciando mito, storia e arte in un unico gesto estetico.

L’iniziativa ha visto anche la pubblicazione del primo Quaderno di Cantiere Multipolare, contenente il testo teorico dell’intervento sonoro: L’Arte delle Altezze Rarefatte – Dalla pittura di Nikolaj Rerich ai paesaggi sonori.

The Art of Rarefied Heights

Lyrical Evening in Tribute to Nikolaj Rerich (1874–1947)

Organized by the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs with the support of the Italian-Russian Dialogue Forum, as part of the Cultural Mission in Italy project and in collaboration with Cantiere Multipolare, the evening paid tribute to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nikolaj Konstantinovič Rerich, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Russian art and creator of a body of work rich in symbolic and transcendent references.

The event brought together renowned Russian performers – Maria Pakhar’, Denis Sedov, and Sergej Semenov – and, representing the Musĭca – Voices and Noises section of Cantiere Multipolare, the young Italian artists of the experimental music collective Caverna delle Rose, featuring AimA Lichtblau (voice, overtone harp) and Laura Manescalchi (transverse flute).

Opening the evening, Caverna delle Rose presented a sonic exploration inspired by Rerich’s aesthetic, reinterpreted through a mystical and synesthetic lens, drawing on the insights of Julius Evola and Elémire Zolla. Their performance offered an acoustic transposition of verticality, interpreting painting as an initiatory path and sound as a means of spiritual elevation.

Enriching the evening was the presentation of the scarves created by the artist, set designer, and designer Anna Nezhnaya — silk-printed graphic works born from an extensive theatrical and symbolic research process. These creations — dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Roerich Pact — evoke the legacy of the Ballets Russes and pay homage to key cultural figures of the twentieth century, such as Nižinskij, Borodin, Stravinskij, and d’Annunzio, intertwining myth, history, and art in a unified aesthetic gesture.

The event also marked the release of the first Cantiere Multipolare Notebook, featuring the theoretical text that accompanied the sonic performance: The Art of Rarefied Heights – From the Painting of Nikolaj Rerich to Sonic Landscapes.
